In New Mexico, driver's education in public schools is mandated by state law for individuals under 18 applying for their first driver's license. This requirement aims to ensure young drivers
develop the necessary skills, attitudes, and behaviors for safe driving practices. The program, which includes a DWI prevention and education component, is offered by public schools.
The program emphasizes developing safe driving habits, including defensive driving techniques and understanding traffic laws.
